ASTM A573 grade 70 Properties steel plate

ASTM A573 Grade 70 is a structural carbon steel plate used in applications requiring improved toughness. It is mainly used for tanks, storage vessels, and other equipment that require high strength and improved toughness.

Properties of ASTM A573 Grade 70:

Chemical Composition:

Carbon (C): 0.24% max

Manganese (Mn): 0.85-1.35%

Phosphorus (P): 0.035% max

Sulfur (S): 0.04% max

Silicon (Si): 0.15-0.40%

Mechanical Properties:

Tensile Strength: 485-620 MPa (70-90 ksi)

Yield Strength: 290 MPa (42 ksi) minimum

Elongation (in 8" or 200 mm): 17% minimum

Elongation (in 2" or 50 mm): 20% minimum

Hardness:

Typically around 150-180 HB depending on thickness and heat treatment.
