How to choose the forging and casting of 16Mo3 steel steel plate

16Mo3 steel is ultra-high strength steel, with high hardness and wear resistance, good plasticity, toughness and greater weldability. However, the steel has poor tempering stability at high temperature, and high hardness can be obtained when the tempering temperature is lower than 790℃. 16Mo3 steel is a kind of high strength heat treatment steel. It is a kind of ultra high strength alloy material produced by special process. The parts made of this steel not only have high mechanical properties, good technology and welding properties, but also have good corrosion resistance.

16Mo3 steel belongs to austenitic stainless steel, generally can not be forged and brazed, but can be heat-treated.
1. The chemical composition of 16Mo3 steel is: nickel content is 0.38~0.50%, chromium content is 6 ~8%. The content of molybdenum in steel is higher than that in common austenitic stainless steel. Molybdenum can refine ferrite and improve the toughness and corrosion resistance of steel.
2. The commonly used forging methods of 16Mo3 steel include normalizing and tempering. Normalizing means forging by heating to nearly 1000℃ at room temperature, and air cooling after heating to nearly 1000℃ for 1 hour; During tempering, the heating temperature should be controlled at 500~600℃ and cooled with the furnace after holding for 1~2h.
3, 16Mo3 steel forging process: generally using forging die forging. If the workpiece structure size is not large, can be directly forged. It is more practical to use medium carbon alloy steel forgings with good tempering plasticity for tempering in actual production. Because of the martensitic transformation during tempering, the ideal structure and excellent mechanical properties can be obtained. In order to eliminate or reduce tempering brittleness, generally should be forged at high temperature and repeated heating, heat preservation, cooling.
4, 16Mo3 steel can not be brazed; Induction heating or electric arc furnace smelting is generally adopted.
5. 16Mo3 steel should be forged by cold drawing billet.
The carbon content of 16Mo3 steel is 0.20~0.30, and the manganese content is 0.30~0.50%. The steel has the advantages of high strength, toughness, hardness and wear resistance. 16Mo3 steel has good hardenability, tempering stability and poor tempering resistance. In addition, it has excellent welding performance, stamping strength and certain cold working plasticity.
