SA387 Gr91CL2 steel is equivalent to national standard 10Cr9MolVNbN, with high oxidation resistance and high temperature steam corrosion resistance. It has the properties of preventing hydrogen embrittlement, hydrogen corrosion, hydrogen stripping, sulfide corrosion and good low temper embrittlement at medium temperature (350~480) near hydrogen. It also has good impact toughness and high and stable durable plasticity and thermal strength performance.
When the service temperature is below 620, the allowable stress is higher than that of austenitic stainless steel. The recommended design allowable stress above 550 is about twice that of T9 and 2.25Cr-1Mo steel and has good intergranular corrosion resistance.
