ABS grade AH36 yield strength is 51KSI/355Mpa minimum and thus defined as Higher Strength shipbuilding steel. ABS grade AH36 steel is utilized almost exclusively in the shipbuilding and offshore industries.
ABS grade AH36 material properties, longitudinal min impact energy:
Grade | Thickness | Yield Strength | Tensile Strength | Elongation | Impact Energy |
(mm) | MPa (min) | MPa | % (min) | (KV J) (min) | |
0 degree | |||||
ABS grade AH36 | 8-240 | 355 | 490-620 | 21 | 34J |
Note: the impact energy under less 50mm thickness
For same Strength shipbuilding steel, there are also DH36, EH36 and FH36. They have similar strength with ABS grade AH36 steel but different heat treatment, impact test and working condition. ABS grade AH36 steel is in the control-rolled condition, DH36 steel is in both the control-rolled and normalized condition, EH36 steel is in the normalized condition. DH36, EH36 and FH36 steel grades can also be certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
ABS grade AH36 yield strength is in middle level. For lower strength, you can choose ABS Grade A general strength steel. For higher strength, you can choose ABS AH40 steel.
