Some ASME SA572 Gr.50 steel plates are rolled up when they come out of the steel mill, which are called ASME SA572 Gr.50 rolled steel plates. And some SA572 Grade 50 steel plates are open flat from SA572 Grade 50 steel coils, which are called ASME SA572 Gr.50 open flat plates.
Usually SA572 Gr.50 open flat plates are much cheaper than ASME SA572 Gr.50 rolled steel plates. The main difference lies in ASME SA572 Gr.50 steel plates surface. The original rolled flat SA572 Gr.50 plate of the factory is flattier than the open flat SA572 Gr.50 plate. The open flat SA572 Grade 50 plate needs leveling and cutting of original SA572 Grade 50 steel coils. After some time, it is possible to generate original scrolls.
ASME SA572 Gr.50 rolled steel plates generally have four cut edge, SA572 Gr.50 open flat plates generally have two cutting edges unless have special requirements. The thickness tolerance of open flat plate can be larger than that of ASME SA572 Gr.50 original rolled steel plates.
If the flatness requirements for ASME SA572 Gr.50 steel plates is not very high, the SA572 Gr.50 open flat plates can be used. SA572 Gr.50 open flat plates are certainly not as good as ASME SA572 Gr.50 rolled steel plates, but the open flat plates price is cheaper.
