According to the Czech Iron and Steel Federation on March 26, Czech exported 4.89 million tons of steel materials in 2018, totaling 108 billion kronor ($5 billion), an increase of 5.6% year on year. It sets a record. The main reason for the export growth is the production of more high-end steel products.
The report points out that the European Union is the main export market of Czech steel products. In 2018, the proportion of steel products exported to the European Union reached 89%. The main export countries are Germany, Poland and Slovakia. According to Czech Iron and Steel Federation, the slowdown of EU economic development will have a negative impact on Czech steel industry in the next two years.
The report also mentions that China is the world's largest steel products producer, with output of 928 million tons in 2018, more than half of the world's capacity.
