ASTM A36 steel plate is the most purchased Hot rolled steel plate in the world and the least expensive of the commercial carbon steels. The heat ability reates very good welding properties, and the 36 ksi yield strength makes ASTM A36 steel plate acceptable for most applications. A36 is considered a mild steel due to it’s relatively moderate hardness.

Because of tolerances, ie ASTM A36 steel plate thickness tolerance, flatness and camber, as well as the hot roll condition, ASTM A36 steel plate generally does not finish to specified thickness.
