ASTM A36 steel is very popular in the construction field. Q235B, A283C, S235JR, ST37-2, Ss400 steel grades are ASTM A36 steel equivalent grades.
To be ASTM A36 steel equivalent grade, the steel material should have similar chemical composition and mechanical properties to ASTM A36 steel. So that the ASTM A36 steel equivalent grade can play close performance to ASTM A36 steel.

From above table, we can find that Q235B, A283C, S235JR, ST37-2, SS400 etc. ASTM A36 steel equivalent grades have close chemical composition and mechanical properties to ASTM A36 steel. In most projects, they can be used to instead each other. But for some special applications, you need choose among A36 and ASTM A36 steel equivalent grades carefully.
