What are the classifications of steel? steel plate

Steel is an iron-carbon alloy with a carbon content of 0.04%-2.3% in steel. In order to ensure its toughness and plasticity, the carbon content generally does not exceed 1.7%. In addition to iron and carbon, the main elements of steel include silicon, manganese, sulfur, and phosphorus. There are many ways to classify steel, and the main methods are as follows:

1. According to the quality classification, steel is divided into ordinary steel, high-quality material steel, and high-grade high-quality steel.

2. According to chemical composition, steel is divided into carbon steel and alloy steel.

3. Classified by forming method, steel includes forged steel, cast steel, hot rolled steel, cold drawn steel.

According to the metallographic structure, steel is divided into hypoeutectoid steel, eutectoid steel, ledeburite steel in annealed state, pearlite steel in normalized state, bainite steel, martensitic steel, austenitic steel.

5. According to the use, steel is divided into construction and engineering steel, steel for machinery manufacturing, spring steel, bearing steel, tool steel, special performance steel, and professional steel.

6. The comprehensive classification of steel is divided into ordinary steel and high-quality steel.

7. According to the smelting method, steel is divided into open hearth steel, converter steel, electric furnace steel, boiling steel, semi-killed steel, killed steel, and special killed steel.
