Steel grade Q345B low alloy high strength structural steel is developed on the basis of carbon structural steel by adding a small amount of alloying elements, formerly known as ordinary low alloy steel.
The performance and composition characteristics of steel grade Q345B are as follows:
1. Performance characteristics of steel grade Q345B:
(1)The strength of steel grade Q345B is higher than that of the carbon structural steel, which can reduce the weight of the structure and save steel.
(2) Steel grade Q345B has sufficient plasticity, toughness and good weldability.
(3) Steel grade Q345B has good corrosion resistance and low cold brittle transition temperature.
2. Composition characteristics of steel grade Q345B:
(1) Low carbon: carbon content of steel grade Q345B is less than 0.2%, to meet the requirements of plasticity, toughness, weldability and cold working performance.
(2) Low alloy: Manganese is the main alloying element of steel grade Q345B. Because manganese is abundant in resources, it has obvious solid solution strengthening effect on ferrite. Manganese can also reduce the cold-brittle transition temperature of steel grade Q345B and increase the relative amount of pearlite in the structure, thus further improving the strength. Adding a small amount of V, Ti, Nb and other elements in steel grade Q345B can refine grain size and improve toughness of steel. The addition of RE can increase the toughness and fatigue limit and reduce the cold brittle transition temperature.
