Both P275 NL1 and P275 NL2 are under the Europe standard EN 10028-3. EN 10028-3 is a kind of specification covers a range of weldable fine grain steels manufactured in the normalized condition and intended for pressure purposes.
EN 10028-3 has three steel grades namely, P275, P355, and P460. In each of these grades the numbers 275/355/460 behind P show the minimum yield strength (in MPa) for plates 16 mm thick and below. Moreover, N and NH indicate impact testing at -20 centigrade degrees or above, NL1 at -40 centigrade degrees or above, and NL2 at -50 centigrade degrees or above.
EN 10028-3 P275 NL1 steels show that EN 10028-3 P275 NL1 steels own a minimum yield strength of 275 Mpa(16 mm thick or below) and should bear a -40 centigrade degrees impact tests. While EN 10028-3 P275 NL2 steels have a a minimum yield strength of 275 Mpa(16 mm thick or below) and should bear a -50 centigrade degrees impact tests.
The designation EN 10028-3 P275 NL1 and P275 NL2 indicates that both of them are steel for pressure purposes (P) with minimum yield strength of 275 MPa (275) which have to be impact tested in the transverse direction at -40 centigrade degrees (NL1) or at -50 centigrade degrees(NL2).
Typical applications for P275 NL1 and P275 NL2 steel
storage tanks, storage spheres, pressure vessels, boilers , heat exchangers , gas turbines , compressors.
