20CrMo steel is a kind of high strength structural steel developed in the early 1950s. It is used to manufacture shaft parts requiring high strength, toughness, hardness and wear resistance. 20 CrMo steel is a kind of high manganese steel, chemical composition (mass fraction) is: carbon C> 1.2%, Mn=1.0%~1.5%; Silicon Si< 0.2%, titanium Ti> 0.20%. Suitable for the manufacture of shaft parts under impact load and fatigue load. It has good comprehensive mechanical properties after forging, extrusion, rolling and other deformation processes.
20CrMo steel has high hardness and good wear resistance after quenching. The fatigue strength of 20CrMo steel increases with the increase of temperature, which is caused by more carbide precipitation at high temperature.
The tensile strength of 20CrMo steel is about 800 MPa at 650℃. 1000 MPa at 500-600℃; At 650℃, the tensile strength decreases to 800~1000 MPa. It is about 800 MPa at 500-600℃.
The hardenability of CrMo steel is not high, so its quenching cooling speed should be strictly controlled, generally using medium temperature quenching. After quenching, 20 CrMo steel has a higher hardness, so it can be used to make parts that do not require high hardness.
Compared with 40Mn2, the mechanical properties of 20 CrMo steel are basically unchanged when it is used at 850-950℃ and the heat treatment temperature is 550~650℃. 20CrMo steel is easy to crack or even fail when it is hot worked at 900-1050℃.
