The differences between 45 steel and 20 steel steel plate

1. Different performance

The properties of 45 steel: after being quenched and tempered, the comprehensive mechanical properties of 45 steel are better than other medium carbon structural steels, but the steel has low hardenability and tends to crack during water quenching.

The performance of 20 steel: 20 steel belongs to high-quality low-carbon carbon steel, cold-extruded, carburized and hardened steel. The steel has low strength, good toughness, plasticity and weldability.

2. Different uses

45 steel is the main material for shaft parts and is mainly used to manufacture shaft parts.

20 steel is suitable for manufacturing small and medium-sized parts that are not important in automobile, tractor and general machinery manufacturing. Under hot-rolled or normalized conditions, it is used to manufacture various mechanical parts that are not stressed but require high toughness.

3. Different tensile strength

The tensile strength of 45 steel: not less than 600Mpa. The tensile strength of 20 steel: 355~500MPa.
