Is ss400 a mild carbon steel or stainless steel? I thought all "ss" steels were stainless steel!
Is JIS ss400 and ss400 (on its own) the same thing or are they different?

in JIS (Japanese) "SS" stands for structural steel, and 400 grade
which is similar to AISI 1018.
